If you’re considering becoming a barrister, mini-pupillages offer a great way to get a taste for the work and to put some relevant work experience on your CV.
Before applying for a full pupillage with any barristers’ chambers, at any stage, you will be expected to have done at least one mini-pupillage. Park Square Barristers offers the opportunity of mini-pupillages lasting one week, during which time you’ll shadow one or more of our barristers and observe them preparing cases, in meetings and at court.
Who can apply
Priority is given to university students in their second year or higher, or students on the law conversion course or BPTC. Unfortunately, we can’t accommodate candidates who are still at school or sixth-form college.
When to apply
You can apply for a mini-pupillage with Park Square Barristers at any time of the year, but they’re only available from January to October. If you’d like to do a mini-pupillage over the summer (between June and September), please apply as early as possible and no later than 1 April of that year. We send responses to all applicants for mini-pupillages, although you may not receive one right away because of the timing of the way applications are considered.
If you’re successful
When you begin your mini-pupillage, we’ll ask you to sign a confidentiality agreement. We’ll make every effort to ensure that you have the chance to observe barristers’ work in the Leeds area; however, you may be expected to travel to courts outside of Leeds.
We appreciate feedback
Before you leave us, you’ll be asked to provide feedback on your experience so that we can continue to offer a high standard of mini-pupillage.
Applying for mini-pupillages
You should send us an up-to-date CV with a covering letter outlining your dates of availability and why you’re interested in Park Square Barristers. Applications must be emailed; postal applications will not be accepted.
