Park Square Barristers won Chambers of the Year at last night’s Yorkshire Legal Awards. PSQB were shortlisted for 5 other awards : Family Team of the Year, Criminal Team of the Year, Regulatory Team of the Year and Kate Batty was shortlisted for Criminal Lawyer of the Year and Yorkshire Lawyer of the Year.

Julian Jones, leading Kate Bisset, secured the conviction of Mark Aspin at Grimsby Crown Court on 22 charges including a minimum of 31 instances of rape, after a 3-week trial.
Lightwater Valley Attractions Ltd, pleaded guilty of breaching Section 3(1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and was fined £333, 344 and ordered to pay costs of £16,183.

Andrew Westlake, aged 29, was returning from a family holiday in Turkey when he was taken off a Jet2 Flight from Dalaman Airport back to the United Kingdom prior to take off. For an unknown reason, Andrew went to the second floor of Dalaman Airport and jumped over the barrier. The injuries Andrew sustained resulted in his death on 29 May 2018.
In January of this year, a well-known fish and chip restaurant and takeaway in North Yorkshire was sentenced to a fine of £75,000 after pleading guilty to an offence of failing to ensure the health and safety of their employees, contrary to s.2(1) and s.33(1)(a) of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
