During her time as an Advocate at a multinational law firm, Naomi regularly attended CCMCs, CMCs, a wide variety of application hearings and small claims. She regularly dealt with high value cases, and attended applications dealing with Qualified One Way Costs Shifting and allegations of fundamental dishonesty. These cases often involved allegations of civil fraud, low velocity impacts cases, credit hire and exaggerated personal injury claims.

As a result of this experience, Naomi regularly undertakes work at all stages and is happy to assist with advice on procedure and tactics.

Naomi also provides external training to solicitors and members of the insurance industry.

As part of her work for the Government Legal Department Naomi is involved in matters across the range of claims brought in employment tribunals. She has a particular interest in cases involving allegations of discrimination.

Prior to commencing pupillage, Naomi was employed as an Advocate for multinational law firm where she regularly attended CCMCs, CMCs, application hearings, small claims and infant approvals across a variety of personal injury cases including road traffic accident claims, employer’s liability, public liability, occupiers’ liability claims and industrial disease matters. She regularly dealt with high value cases.

As a result of this experience, Naomi regularly represents Claimants and Defendants in a variety of personal injury matters at all stages of proceedings.

She is happy to advise on procedure and tactics, and will consider instructions on a CFA basis.

Industrial Disease

After graduating from Durham University, Naomi was employed a Fee Earner at a large national firm where she ran a caseload of Noise Induced Hearing Loss claims and assisted in the preparation and litigation of other industrial disease claims including occupational stress and HAVS.

Naomi accepts instructions for both Claimants and Defendants in all industrial disease matters. She is able to provide advices and settle pleadings within a short period of time.

Naomi regularly delivers training to CiLex and other professional bodies often involving legal updates, practical skills and tactics.

Public Law

Naomi receives instructions from all parties involved in care proceedings and repeatedly represents parties in multi-day hearings.

She is instructed on a wide range of cases including matters which involve issues of sexual abuse, physical abuse, non-accidental injuries, serious neglect, parents with learning difficulties or who lack capacity, substance misuse and oral expert evidence.

Naomi also delivered training to social workers at Leeds City Council.

Private Law

Naomi is instructed regularly to represent parents and children in private child arrangement disputes. She provides representation at all stages of proceedings including contested final hearings and finding of fact hearings.

Naomi was recently successful on appeal following the making of a final order for indirect contact. The issues surrounded domestic violence and the subsequent impact on ongoing contact between her client and their child.

Naomi is currently undertaking a secondment for the Vale of York Clinical Commissioning Group where she regularly advises on and assists with Court of Protection matters.

Naomi is very interested in this area of work and is keen to build on her current experience.

Naomi undertakes work in the Coroner’s Court acting for a range of interested persons including the Care Quality Commission. Naomi offers continuity of representation from inquests to civil actions for damages arising post-inquest.

Naomi undertakes work for the Government Legal Department in a variety of matters including a litigation trawl for the Department for Exiting the European Union.

Naomi is undertaking a secondment for South Yorkshire Police where she assists with a variety of matters. Naomi regularly makes applications for order to protect members of the public including Sexual Harm Prevention Orders, Sexual Risk Orders, Notification Orders, Violent Offender Orders and Domestic Violence Protection Orders. She also provides advice in relation to a variety of legal issues arising out of the work undertaken by South Yorkshire Police.
