Kate Bisset represented the mother of Steven O’Neill in a 4 day inquest at the Harrogate Pavilions. Steven died in the River Ouse in April 2021, during a two week period in which 5 people died in the river.
We are delighted to announce that Kate Bisset has been appointed as Assistant Coroner in Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen .
Kate will sit part time whilst continuing with her inquest practice.
The daughter of a Pathologist, Kate grew up with inquests as a normal part of life.
Kate Batty prosecuted and Kate Bisset defended in this case which involved the prosecution of 3 men who sexually abused 2 young girls when they were aged between 4 and 11 years old in the 1990s.
Craig Hassall, Simon Clegg and Kate Bissett have all accepted the Senior President’s offer of appointment to sit (part-time) with immediate effect.
