The offence dated back some 12 months ago, the circumstances being that the Defendant had been driving a motorcycle that had collided into another vehicle causing injuries which hospitalised the Defendant.

Mr Buckley was prosecuted by Ryedale District Council for fraudulently claiming a Covid-19 business grant of £10,000. Mr Buckley applied for a business grant on 30 March 2020 despite his lease of the business premises having expired in February 2020.

The Defendant, Peter Kaye, pleaded guilty to offences of gross indecency and indecent assault on a child under the age of 14. The offences took place in the 1980’s and the sentencing exercise was confined to the maximum sentence that was in force when the offences were committed under the Sexual Offences Act 1956.
