£90,000 Charity Fraud case – Catherine Silverton defends

A woman who faked cancer in a £90,000 fraud has been jailed for 4 years and five months at York Crown Court.

The defendant had previously pleaded guilty to 4 counts of fraud and one count of forgery.

Catherine Silverton who was instructed to defend said the defendant had a history of mental health issues and a borderline personality disorder “The defendant wishes to express through me her deepest remorse and regret for these offences. She acknowledges the harm done to all of the victims.
