Park Square BarristersIt has been a busy few weeks for Allan Armbrister.
At the end of July, he defended Thomas Longhurst.
Longhurst was an accountant who pleaded guilty to tax evasion amounting to over £64,000. The VAT Fraud lasted over a 3-year period.
He was given a two-year prison sentence suspended for two years on the condition he does 300 hours unpaid work.
All of the evaded tax has been paid back.
And last week Allan Armbrister prosecuted Maidei Hukuimwe at Leeds Crown Court.
Hukuime, who moved to the UK from Zimbabwe in 2000, used false documents including a false birth certificate, false passport and false driving licence to secure a job as a nurse in the NHS.
She secured a number of promotions and earning up to £34,000 but then she admitted her dishonesty and was charged with a number of criminal offences.
Hukuime was spared an immediate custodial sentence, but the Judge at Leeds Crown handed her a nine-month prison sentence, suspended for two years and 120 hours of unpaid work
