Another Successful Prosecution of a Slaughterhouse for Breaching Hygiene Regulations

Howard Shaw has again successfully prosecuted a West Yorkshire slaughterhouse for breaching hygiene regulations.

The case was brought by the Food Standards Agency and arose from repeated incidents of ‘in-rolling’, whereby the slaughterhouse operator failed to prevent dirty fleeces from rolling back onto the meat during fleece removal, resulting in the contamination of carcases. Other charges arose from carcases, which were contaminated with faeces, being presented for final FSA inspection at the slaughterhouse. Fines were imposed on the Defendant Company.
