Christopher Dunn prosecutes historic Teesside sex abuser

Christopher Dunn appeared for the prosecution at Teesside Crown Court in the case of R v John Pearson. The defendant was charged with multiple sexual offences including indecent assault, indecency with a child and rape.

Mr. Dunn told the Court that the complainants were subject to years of threats and intimidation:

The defendant’s sexual abuse of each of them has had catastrophic effects upon their respective lives, each of which has been irrevocably blighted by this abuse. Their lives have been destroyed, psychologically destroyed.”

In sentencing, Judge Simon Bourne-Arton QC, The Recorder of Middlesbrough said:

The time has now come, Mr. Pearson, when you are to be punished for the offending, even offending which occurred so long ago. The total sentence is 24 years’ imprisonment. You can go down”
