Congratulations to HHJ Richard Mansell QC on his appointment as The Recorder of Bradford

Richard Mansell practised as a Criminal Barrister for over 20 years before his appointment to the Circuit Bench in 2013.

He joined No6 back in 1991 as a pupil to Timothy Clayson.

At No6, Richard Mansell dealt with many high profile criminal cases including the prosecution of 28 defendants for hijacking a coal train in protest against Drax power station (R v Bard & others, 2009), the prosecution of a former “Mr Gay UK” for the murder of a man after which the defendant ate some of the deceased flesh (R v Morley, 2008) and prosecuting BNP Leader Nick Griffin for crimes of inciting Racial Hatred in 2008.

He was appointed a Recorder in 2005 before taking silk in 2009.

HHJ Mansell QC has been a Circuit Judge at Manchester Crown Court for the last 7 years and moves back to the North Eastern Circuit to be The Recorder of Bradford.

We wish the new Recorder of Bradford all the very best in his new role which he starts today.
