David Gordon successfully prosecutes Dennis Cecil White at a five day trial concerning historical allegations of buggery and indecent assault in the 1970s

David Gordon, a senior member of the criminal team at Park Square Barristers, recently successfully prosecuted Dennis Cecil White aged 83 at a five day trial concerning historical allegations of buggery and indecent assault in the 1970s against two boys aged 11 and 12 at that time but now adults.

The defendant who the jury was told has a long list of convictions for very similar serious sexual offences against young boys going back as far as the 1950s and continuing into the 1980s had been prosecuted once before by Mr Gordon in 1997 when following a trial also at Hull Crown Court White was convicted of similar offences against another boy.

At the conclusion of the trial in 1997 White received a life sentence with a tariff of 8 years.  He has in fact served 18 years and is still serving that sentence never having been released on parole.

Following this most recent trial the defendant was sentenced to a further life sentence of which he will again serve a minimum of 8 years before he becomes eligible to apply for release on licence by which time he will be 91 years of age.  The sentencing Judge considered that even at his age, White represents a serious danger to young boys by the commission of further sexual offences.
