David Gordon successfully secures murder and manslaughter conviction

David Gordon a senior member of the criminal team of Park Square Barristers recently secured convictions for murder and manslaughter against Michael David Preston.  The trial was heard before Mr Justice Blake at Sheffield Crown Court and lasted for four days.  Preston was represented by Richard Pratt QC of 7 Harrington Street Chambers in Liverpool together with Saleem Khan (HCA) of Culshaw’s solicitors in Grimsby.  Preston felt belittled when, after gate-crashing a party, he was bettered in a fist fight by two invited guests, Dean Southwick and his brother Charlie Day.  Preston walked home, selected a very sharp filleting knife from a kitchen drawer, returned to the scene, and stabbed each man twice, killing Mr Southwick and inflicting life-threatening injuries upon Charlie Day.

Preston received a life sentence with a minimum period of 26 years to serve before he can apply for parole and release on licence.
