David Gordon Successfully Prosecutes Mother & Partner for Feeding Drugs to four-year-old DaughterPark Square Barristers
David Gordon recently successfully prosecuted the case of R v Rytting and Pyke which received extensive national coverage in the media. This prosecution concerned cruelty to a four-year-old child who died in the defendants’ care in still unexplained circumstances. Upon her death, toxicologists found class A and class C drugs incorporated in her hair indicating ingestion over a long period of time. Her mother and her mother’s boyfriends had been giving the child sedatives and other drugs to sedate her. For child cruelty and drug offences each defendant was sentenced to 13 years’ imprisonment.
