Eleanor Durdy is co-opted on to the Yorkshire Agricultural Society Council.

Eleanor was invited by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society to sit as a council member earlier this year. At the recent annual general meeting, her appointment was confirmed. Each year, the Society invites two younger farmers to join the Council for a three-year period, to assist and experience how the Society works. As part of her role, Eleanor will assist in the running of the Great Yorkshire Show, the Societies other commercial activities and with their charitable work, including farmer health checks and promoting careers in agriculture.

Yorkshire born young farmer Eleanor, has played a leading role on her family arable farm since she could reach the pedals. She has a keen interest in farm diversification and working with young people to encourage them to develop a career in agriculture. Eleanor was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2017 and has a successful practice in criminal and regulatory matters. Her passion for hard work and agriculture has provided her with essential niche transferable skills which have strengthened her legal career, particularly when dealing with environmental matters. Eleanor is a strong advocate for women in agriculture and hopes to draw upon her ambitious nature to continue supporting and promoting farming through her position at the Yorkshire Agricultural Society.
