Ex-vicar made subject to extended sentence for repeatedly accessing illegal images – Lucy Brown Prosecutes
Park Square BarristersOn Tuesday, a defendant was sentenced by York Crown Court to an extended prison sentence for possessing indecent images of children and extreme pornography and for breaching the terms of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. The defendant, a former vicar had previously received custodial sentences for similar offending. On this occasion he was found once again to be accessing illegal images and was using software aimed at covering up his activities. This was his 4th conviction for such offending and therefore the court concluded that he was a dangerous offender, resulting in the imposition of an extended sentence. A new Sexual Harm Prevention Order was made to reflect the fact that previous attempts to restrict the defendant’s activities had failed to curb his offending. The order contained onerous prohibitions which were justified on the basis of the defendant’s persistent behaviour. Lucy Brown was instructed by the Crown Prosecution Service.
Lucy Brown is a Grade 3 prosecutor. She also regularly defends across a wide spectrum of offences.
