Howard Shaw, Egg Fraudster

Howard Shaw successfully prosecutes Egg Fraudster

Howard Shaw has successfully prosecuted Anthony Clarkson at Preston Crown Court in relation to his fraudulent marketing of eggs.

Clarkson operated a farm producing ‘free-range eggs’.  He also had an interest in another farm producing cheaper ‘barn eggs’.  He stamped the ‘barn eggs’ with his own producer code, falsely indicating that they were ‘free range eggs’ produced at his own premises.  He then fraudulently sold the ‘barn eggs’ as ‘free-range eggs’.

Over 6 million ‘barn eggs’ are believed to have been fraudulently stamped and sold as ‘free-range eggs’.

The case involved evidence of the examination of eggs under ultra-violet light to show that they had not been laid at Clarkson’s ‘free-range’ facility.
