Hull neighbour killer given hospital order – Patrick Palmer prosecutes

A woman who beat her neighbour to death with a metal pole has been sentenced to an indefinite hospital order.

The defendant, Sherry Moore, pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

Patrick Palmer, who prosecuted the case, told Sheffield Crown Court that Moore had a history of mental illness. Previous incidents included stabbing her two year old son with a kitchen knife in 1993 and running over a Police Officer in 2016.

Moore had been sectioned under the Mental Health Act on six previous occasions.

The case has received regional and national media coverage.
