Kama Melly QC speaks at the Annual Bar & Young Bar Conference

Park Square Barristers Deputy Head of Chambers, Kama Melly QC, was one of the panellists at this year’s Bar & Yong Bar Conference.

The annual event, which took place on Saturday at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London, brings the profession together to address key issues at the modern Bar.

The Chairman of the Bar, Richard Atkins QC opened proceedings before Baroness Hale delivered the opening keynote speech titled “Here’s to the second century of women lawyers”

Kama Melly QC was one of six panellists to provide expert analysis on “Contemporary issues for criminal and family lawyers”. This sessions was chaired by The Rt Hon Lord Hughes of Ombersley.

The panel discussed “children as witnesses, the questioning of vulnerable witnesses, allegations of shaken baby syndrome and the significance of the triad, use of medical experts, disclosure, parallel criminal and family proceedings and the needs of the client.”
