Katherine Robinson prosecutes female perpetrator of domestic abuse

A 22-year-old female has been jailed for a total of 8 years for a range of offences amounting to domestic abuse spanning across an 18-month relationship.

Paige Cook pleaded guilty to; Assault occasioning actual bodily harm, inflicting grievous bodily harm, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, controlling or coercive behaviour an intimate or family relationship and perverting the course of justice.

Whilst passing sentence, Judge Ahmed Nadim condemned Cook’s offences by highlighting, “You manipulated her, threatened her with violence, isolated her to an extent she felt entirely dependent on you. She believed you were in love with her and were thinking about marriage but that was behaviour designed to get her to not support the prosecution and for a significant while you succeeded.”

Cook will serve 2/3’s of her 8-year sentence before she is eligible for release. She will be subject to a restraining order against her former partner for the next 10 years.

Katherine Robinson prosecuted the case for the CPS.
