Laura Nelson Appointed to the Attorney General’s Regional Panel

We are pleased to announce that Laura Nelson has been selected as panel counsel for the Attorney General. Together with Janine Wolstenholme and Kirsten Mercer, Simon Clegg, Kate Wilson & Simon Connolly we now have six members who may undertake instruction from all government departments

Administered by the Government Legal Department (“GLD”), the Attorney General’s panels of counsel consist of over 400 barristers who undertake civil, regulatory and public work on behalf of the government. This has already seen chambers play a key role in several inquests and judicial review proceedings.

Laura is an experienced advocate whose practice covers areas such as Personal Injury, Motor Fraud and Commercial matters. Laura’s experience includes cases involving staged accidents, low-speed impact, exaggerated personal injury and exaggerated credit hire. Laura has also acted in High Court proceedings for contempt of court, resulting from fraudulent claims.

Laura accepts instructions in a variety of regulatory and public law matters. Laura has both prosecuted and defended in a range of cases involving prosecutions brought by private agencies including local councils, the RSPCA and the DVLA. Laura has assisted in training local councils on how to bring successful prosecutions.

Prior to establishing her practice, Laura worked with Lawyers Without Borders in their Washington, D.C. office, supporting projects primarily focused on building capacity in respect of access to justice and the rule of law worldwide.
