Matthew Harding Successful in Court of Appeal Sentence Reduction

Matthew Harding represented a defendant in the Court of Appeal on Friday in an appeal against sentence for offences of theft and failing to surrender.

The defendant, Isaih Mdala, was given a total sentence of 19 months’ imprisonment at Leeds Crown Court in July.

Mr Harding argued that the sentence was excessive. The Court of Appeal Judges, led by Lord Justice Flaux, agreed, and reduced the defendant’s sentence to one of 8 months and 2 weeks.
