Not guilty verdict after trial for man facing 4th strike class A drugs trafficking allegations– Giles Grant defends.

The case against 17 defendants was part of a large-scale police operation involving evidence from 6 months of police surveillance, DNA, cell site, telephone billing data and seizures of over 10kg of class A drugs across Leeds and Blackpool. Twelve defendants pleaded guilty and 3 were found guilty after trial and sentences between 15 years and 4 years were imposed.

This client was accused of co-ordinating the first heroin deal which was under surveillance and intercepted by the police within 7 minutes. The case turned on robust and detailed analysis of the telephone evidence of his contact with the principal conspirators and the convicted defendants who were observed exchanging half a kilo of heroin, including calls and messages before during and after the exchange. Thorough and compelling scrutiny of the prosecution evidence including that of the client’s previous convictions before the jury was vital to the not guilty verdict.
