Pupils Sophie Phillips and Matthew Stewart start their second six

PSQB pupils Sophie Phillips and Matthew Stewart complete their first six of pupillage today and will start on their feet tomorrow, Wednesday 9 September.

Both are now available to receive instructions.

Sophie has been supervised by senior Civil Barrister and PSQB Director – Matthew Smith.

Despite the pandemic Sophie has been able to shadow and observe dozens of remote hearings and in recent weeks she has been able to attend in person hearings as well.

She has also shadowed Andrew Lewis QC in Civil cases. In Crime Sophie has followed Kitty Colley and David Orbaum in Family matters.

Sophie has also contributed articles to the website including one on the payment of school and university fees during lockdown.

Matthew Stewart has been supervised by leading Criminal Barrister Gill Batts.

Matthew was able to follow Gill on one of the first Crown Court jury trials to return at Leeds Crown Court after lockdown.

He has also experienced many virtual hearings across all practice areas.

Matthew has shadowed family work with Catherine Mason and Civil work with Kate Wilson.

Both Sophie and Matthew will be available to accept instructions in all of our practice areas.
