Sugar Club’s licence revoked: Leila Taleb successful in application on behalf of South Yorkshire Police
Park Square BarristersLeila Taleb represented South Yorkshire Police (SYP) yesterday at Barnsley Town Hall in an application to revoke the licence of Sugar Club, a night club in Barnsley.
Ms Taleb, on behalf of SYP, submitted that this was a problem premises which had ample opportunity to rectify the ongoing breaches of the licence but failed to do so. False promises were made and this was the ‘straw that broke the camel’s back’.
Sugar Club was found to be granting access to underage teenagers. There were also significant health and safety concerns.
The panel concluded that the premises gave partial solutions with unkept promises. The panel didn’t feel that the club could be managed effectively.
