Trial begins over death of 39 Vietnamese migrants in Essex truck container – Abdul Iqbal QC defends

Four men have gone on trial at The Old Bailey in connection with the deaths of 39 Vietnamese nationals in an airport shipping in Essex last year.

The lorry driver Eamonn Harrison and Gheorge Nica are accused of manslaughter.

They are also charged, along with two others (Christopher Kennedy and Valentine Calota) with conspiracy to facilitate illegal immigration.

Abdul Iqbal QC defends one of the accused.

The trial is expected to last 6 weeks.
