Kate is regularly instructed to advise and represent parties in relation to disputes involving unfair and constructive dismissal and all aspects of discrimination. Kate undertakes both Claimant and Respondent work. Since her appointment to the Attorney General’s Panel of Counsel (formerly known as Treasury Counsel), the latter includes representing large organisations such as Government Departments.

Recent experience includes:

  • LK v Ministry of Justice (2019) – Representing the Respondent in a 6-day trial concerning issues of alleged discrimination;
  • PB v HMRC (2019)– Instructed to represent the Respondent in a 4-day trial in Liverpool Employment Tribunal in a claim for unfair dismissal and breach of section 15 of the Equality Act 2010. The central issue in the case was whether an earlier final written warning was manifestly inappropriate and unfair.
