Park Square Barristers offers exceptionally high-quality civil work thanks to a very large team of civil barristers, many of whom have national reputations.

We offer specialisms in civil fraud, personal injury, industrial disease, professional negligence, property, trusts, commercial law, chancery matters (including company, wills and land disputes), public law, and employment law. We work principally in Leeds and Bradford, with a strong presence in Hull, Grimsby and York and some work in Sheffield, Teesside, and Newcastle, and we increasingly work off-circuit.

Our civil law team, led by Darren Finlay, prides itself on its commercial awareness, providing effective and pragmatic solutions for instructing solicitors as well as commercial or lay clients. Our barristers are held in high regard by leading solicitors in each area of law, as evidenced by the high number of repeat instructions from clients (including major insurers and other professionals).

2 pupils in their second sixth at any given time

Thanks to the size and quality of our team, we hold contracts with insurer clients and major firms of solicitors, although we will work for all (including directly with professionals and chancery/commercial clients). Our size also means we can offer advocacy and drafting expertise in a wide variety of areas.

Our open-plan offices ensure that our team shares best practice, knowledge and experience for the benefit of our clients. We can cover any hearing at short notice, and you won’t need to go elsewhere with cases which cross into other specialisms, substitutions, or return of work. And we can make life easier with streamlined bookings and billing.

Flexibility in meeting

Our civil barristers are flexible about travelling to solicitors’ offices and clients’ premises, and will arrange out-of-hours conferences. We can accommodate large round-table meetings, and we offer connected conference rooms for use in mediation or arbitration hearings.
