Acquittal of Registered Nurse charged with multiple sex offences

Abdul Iqbal QC secures the acquittal of Registered Nurse charged with multiple sex offences

Abdul Iqbal QC has secured the unanimous acquittal of TH, a nurse in charge of clinical and care staff at a privately run nursing home. The Crown alleged that TH had sexually assaulted two other members of staff over a period of 2 years.

This acquittal ensures that TH can immediately seek the lifting of an interim suspension order imposed by the Royal College of Nursing.

The case involved allegations that TH had sexually assaulted the complainants during or shortly after clinical examinations of them.

The case also involved complex disclosure, hearsay, bad character, and cross-admissibility considerations.

Abdul Iqbal QC regularly represents professionals charged with criminal and regulatory offences before the courts and/or their professional regulatory bodies.
