Depraved online sex offender who tried to blackmail teenage boys jailed – Richard Woolfall prosecutes

A 22 year old man, Moosa Kayat, has been jailed for 4 years after pleading guilty to blackmail and a series of sexual offences against teenage boys.

Richard Woolfall prosecuted the case at Leeds Crown Court.

The defendant had targeted vulnerable teenagers online and demanded to be sent sickening graphic sexual images. He would then threaten to post them online.

In one example Kayat tried to blackmail a 15 year old boy into having sex with a cat.

The Police investigation into Kayat took almost 5 years and Mr Woolfall told the Court “This investigation started life with there being the possibility of 40 separate victims”

Jailing Kayat for 4 years, the Sentencing Judge, HHJ Bayliss QC said “Any injury done to the victims in a case like this is likely to be enduring. They felt shame, ever present anxiety and fear of exposure…You gained sexual gratification from demeaning these boys and humiliating them”

Richard Woolfall has over 25 years’ experience as a Criminal barrister. He specialises in prosecuting and defending serious sexual offences.
