Largest ever money laundering prosecution trial – Richard Wright KC and John Batchelor in high profile defence acquittal

After a 7 month trial at Leeds Crown Court – verdicts were reached today in the largest ever money laundering case brought before a Court.

 

8 defendants were accused of being part of a £266 million money laundering operation.

 

The prosecution alleged the defendants were part of a scheme to turn the proceeds of crime into untraceable gold.

 

Four of the defendants were cleared of money laundering – the other 4 will face a retrial.

 

Paul Miller – represented by Richard Wright KC and John Batchelor was one of the defendants who received a not guilty verdict.

 

The case has attracted national media attention as one of the defendants James Stunt, was the ex-husband of heiress Petra Ecclestone.
