Anaum Riaz and Naomi McLoughlin work experience at Wakefield Metropolitan District Council

PSQB’s Anaum Riaz & Naomi McLoughlin invited for shadowing at Wakefield MDC

Two members of our family team, Naomi McLoughlin and Anaum Riaz, have this month spent some time at Wakefield Metropolitan District Council offices, shadowing the Child Services Legal Department. Both were invited to shadow senior members of the department in order to gain a better understanding of the internal processes of the Local Authority, particularly in relation to child social services.

Family practitioners can often come under criticism for lacking in knowledge of the internal procedures and processes of local authorities in relation to child social care both prior to and alongside public law proceedings. Both Anaum and Naomi have taken up a fantastic opportunity to observe a variety of panels on matters including pre-proceedings decision-making, adoption and finance applications.

Naomi McLoughlin is currently in her second six pupillage. She is under the supervision of Charlotte Worsley. Naomi is accepting work in a wide variety of areas and has a strong grounding in family law.

Anaum Riaz is our newest tenant at PSQB. She welcomes instruction in relation to all civil and family matters, and has a particular interest in family public law work.
