Richard Paige secured finding of fundamental dishonesty

Instructed by Craig Budworth of DWF LLP, Richard Paige secured findings of fundamental dishonesty against Mrs Munazza Mahmood in respect of her own personal injury claim and that of her children, for whom she acted as litigation friend.
Mrs Mahmood was involved in a modest road traffic accident with a policyholder of Royal & Sun Alliance. She subsequently alleged that she and her children had suffered both whiplash injuries and psychological injuries. She alleged that she had incurred the cost of physiotherapy treatment which had been commissioned by Swift Rehab. Psychological reports were obtained for each of the claimants, with Swift Rehab being the commissioning agency.
At trial in Burnley County Court HHJ Khan found that none of the claimants had suffered the injuries alleged, dismissed the claims and found each of the claims to be fundamentally dishonest.
Mrs Mahmood is the wife of the sole director of Swift Rehab, Mr Omer Mahmood.
Richard Paige has extensive experience in all areas of civil fraud including employer’s liability and public liability, but mainly in relation to road traffic accidents. He has been instructed on numerous occasions in cases involving fabricated, staged and induced (‘slam-on’) accidents, bogus passengers and phantom witnesses, low-velocity impacts (LVIs), and exaggerated personal injury and damage claims. He has expertise in dealing with individual frauds, group and family frauds, and wider criminally organised fraud rings.
