Two men convicted of conspiracy to supply £100k worth of Class A drugs – Joseph Hudson prosecutes

Following a two-week trial at Leeds Crown Court, two men from the West Midlands were found guilty of conspiracy to supply heroin and conspiracy to supply cocaine.

On 23 June 2017, police stopped a car near to the M1 in Wakefield on its way back to Dudley, having made a pickup from Dewsbury. Inside the car was found 0.5kg of heroin of 62% purity and 1kg of cocaine of 96% purity. The drugs were valued at over £100,000.

Following the arrest, West Yorkshire Police examined the phones of those arrested and unravelled an extensive network of communication between men from West Yorkshire and the West Midlands used to arrange this pickup. The subsequent work by the telephone analyst revealed that Zahir Choudhary and Amandeep Chima were heavily involved in arranging this pickup and transfer of drugs.

Following careful and compelling presentation of hotly contested telephone evidence, the jury unanimously convicted the defendants of conspiracy to supply heroin and conspiracy to supply cocaine.

Zahir Choudhary was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment. Amandeep Chima is awaiting sentence.
