A man who beat his friend to death with a hammer following a drunken row has been jailed for life at Teesside Crown Court.

A local preacher who fabricated car crashes to fraudulently claim thousands of pounds from insurance companies has been jailed.

Michael Collins has today secured the manslaughter conviction of Marian Rusu.

The appellant, David Jeffers, discharged a firearm into the vagina of his lover during a sex game that went tragically wrong. The woman was left with catastrophic injuries as Mr. Jeffers fled the scene.

Mr Collins successfully represented Mr Asim Ali who was tried along with his brother, Akshar Alia, and others following a large-scale police investigation into the murder of Sinead Wooding.

Oliver Saxby QC and Michael Collins represented David Andrew Jeffers at Manchester Crown Court last week. The defendant was charged with the attempted murder of a woman in a hotel in Stockport.
